My husband and I were set up on a blind date in the fall of 2002 by a mutual friend. Our first face-to-face meeting was at our local university pub. I was a first-year English Lit/Creative Writing major. He was in his second year of Political Science. We had nothing in common.
We dated for seven years, despite my initial hesitation. We found out our differences made for new experiences. It fostered a lot of love, respect and made for fertile ground in which our relationship could take hold. We went through a lot of growing pains in that time. Fortunately, Nick is perpetually forgiving. He holds no grudges and doesn’t mind putting his ego aside. He makes an incredible partner and father because of it.
We married on a beautiful July afternoon in 2009. We welcomed our first child, Eddie, in 2011. Odette made her way into the world in 2013. Our third (and last) baby Eliette was born in our living room on an early spring morning of 2016. (You can read about her birth story here.)
Raising these three comes with a lot of joy, a lot of growth, a lot of reflection. It is also an enormous test of patience, forgiveness and sacrifice. Fortunately, we’ve got a lot of love to go around and a wonderful network of extended family.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know us.
